Artlead nodigde 12 kunstenaars uit posterontwerpen te maken die, net als concert- of theateraffiches, in de openbare ruimte worden getoond.
De Franse kunstenaar Valérian Goalec besloot geen beeld, maar een drager te maken: een ruw gelast stalen frame, geïnspireerd op de reclamepanelen uit de Parijse metro. Omdat zulke zware frames niet zomaar in de publieke ruimte geplaatst kunnen worden, werkt Artlead samen met enkele culturele instellingen buiten de grootsteden.
De beelden voor PLAKT zijn gemaakt door Céline Mathieu, Michel François, Camille Orso, Peter Downsbrough, Shervin/e Sheikh Rezaei, Aline Bouvy, Geert Goiris, Tine Guns, Mekhitar Garabedian, Gerard Herman, en Katja Mater. Het frame is een werk van Valérian Goalec.

Camille Orso Caël – Light Catch
- Vanaf 27 oktober kan je de eerste poster in de reeks PLAKT aan de gevel van De Garage ontdekken.
Camille Orso Caël (voorheen Picquot) maakt beelden die balanceren tussen werkelijkheid en verbeelding. Wat alledaags lijkt, krijgt in haar foto’s en films iets magisch of bevreemdends. Ze werkt intuïtief, verzamelt snapshots, experimenten en geënsceneerde beelden, en bouwt die uit tot poëtische reeksen die uitnodigen om langer te kijken.
In haar werk speelt licht vaak de hoofdrol. In de reeks Blissful Asphalt zoomt ze in op kleine details in de stad: zonlicht op asfalt, langgerekte schaduwen, weerspiegelingen. Doodgewone dingen worden onverwacht intens en poëtisch.
Ook in Light Catch staat licht centraal. Op de foto zien we handen die iets proberen te vangen. Al jaren documenteert Orso handgebaren. Ze is gefascineerd door hun sensuele, tastbare expressie. Opnieuw is het licht hier een belangrijk personage. Het beeld wisselt tussen scherpte en vervaging, tussen oppervlakte en suggestie. Er schuilt een trance-achtige stilte in de beweging, als een flard van een droom, of een half herinnerd visioen.

Artlead invited 12 artists to create poster designs that, like concert or theatre posters, would be displayed in public spaces.
French artist Valérian Goalec decided not to create an image, but a carrier: a rough welded steel frame, inspired by the advertising panels in the Paris metro. Because such heavy frames cannot simply be placed in public spaces, Artlead is collaborating with several cultural institutions outside the major cities.

Camille Orso Caël – Light Catch

Camille Orso Caël (previously Picquot) makes images that are on the border between reality and imagination. What looks everyday will turn into something magical or alienating in her photos and films. She works intuitively, collects snapshots, experiments and staged images, and then transforms them into a poetic series that draw you to look longer.
In her practice light often plays the main role. In the series Blissful Asphalt she zooms into the smaller details of the city: the sunlight on tarmac, long shadows, reflections. The most common things suddenly become intense and poetic.
Light is just as central in Light Catch. On the photo we see hands trying to catch something. Orso has been documenting gestures for years. She’s fascinated by their sensual, tangible expression. Again the light becomes an important character. The image switches between clear and blurred, between surface and suggestion. It hides a trance-like silence in the movement, like the fragment of a dream or a semi-forgotten vision.
